We would like to warn you that unfortunately, there are fraudulent websites and phishing attacks that attempt to exploit users online these days. To protect your information, it is important to be vigilant when shopping, especially when purchasing gifts or sharing personal details.
Since our users have control over which wishes they add and from which webshops, we do not have control over the individual sites. Therefore, we cannot always respond quickly enough if a fraudulent site appears on our platform, as we would like to. For this reason, we strongly encourage both users and gift-givers to be extra cautious and ensure they are wishing for and purchasing from trustworthy webshops.
How to Spot Fraudulent Websites
Check Reviews: One of the best ways to assess a webshop is by looking for reviews online. Read feedback from other customers to get a sense of the company’s reliability. Often, you can quickly identify a fraudulent site based on negative reviews.
Suspicious URLs: Fraudulent websites often use URLs that resemble the official ones but may have small spelling mistakes or changes. Be cautious of irregularities in the web address.
Padlock in the Address Bar: Always check the website's security – look for "https://" in the URL and a padlock icon in the browser’s address bar. This indicates that the connection is encrypted and secure.
Unrealistically Low Prices: If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Be cautious with webshops offering expensive items at very low prices.
Poor Website Design: Fraudulent sites often have an unprofessional design, and you may encounter errors on the website. Pay attention to how the site looks – it can reveal whether it’s legitimate.
Inconsistent Country Information in Customer Service Details: If you find an email, phone number, or address, but the details are inconsistent (e.g., a Danish phone number (+45), an address in the Netherlands, and an email ending in .uk), it is highly likely to be a fraudulent site.
Have You Been Scammed?
If you suspect that you’ve been scammed or if you’ve shared your information with a suspicious site, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. This way, we can quickly block the site and prevent other users or gift-givers from falling into the same trap.
